Applying for MRP

Applying for New or Renewal of Machine Readable Passport

Machine Readable Passport (MRP) system uses the data from National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) system and MRP application can only be processed if applicant has  the following valid original documents issued by NADRA:
  1. Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
  2. National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
  3. Smart National ID Card
  4. Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) for under 10 years applicants only
  5. Children above 10 years must have a smart Juvenile card/ NICOP card

Machine Readable Passport (MRP) application processing requirements are different for adults and children. Please go through the relevant section carefully before visiting the Consulate for processing of your MRP application as all documents listed under each category are mandatory and our staff will not be able to process your application if the requirements are not fully met.

Adults’ (18 years and above) Application processing

Requirements

  • Personal appearance of the applicant
  • Previous Pakistani Passport along with its photocopy
  • UK E-Visa (Immigration Status Page Print). We do not need share code.
  • Production of one of the following original valid NADRA Cards along with its photocopy:
    • Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
    • National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
    • Smart National ID Card
Notes
1- Married female applicants are required to produce original CNIC / NICOP/Smart National ID Card containing their husband’s name. They would otherwise be required to get their CNIC / NICOP / Smart card modified in accordance with their marital status before applying for MRP.
2. Pakistani Government employees are required to produce original NOC issued within last ninety (90) days by their respective Ministries / Divisions / Departments. In case of resignation from the Government Service, original resignation letter dually attested by the Pakistan Foreign Office is required.
3- Dual Nationals are required to bring their British or any other nationality passport along with its photocopy / NICOPs.

Children (below 18 years) application processing

Requirements

  • Personal appearance of the applicant Child along with their previous Pakistani Passport if any.
  • Applicant’s UK E-Visa (Immigration Status) page print alongwith parents Immigration Status/ Foreign Passport photocopy.
  • Applicants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by either of the parents along with their original Passports and Nadra Cards.
  • Production of one of the following original valid documents along with its photocopy:
    1. National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
    2. Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) issued by NADRA (Only for Children below the age of 10 Years)
  • Both Parents Original Pakistani Passports and NICOP/ID Cards, along with Passports with photocopies.
  • Detailed birth certificate containing both parents’ names on it and its copy
Notes
In case parents are separated or divorced, the custodian father or mother is required to produce court orders confirming his/her legal right of custody of the child. If one or both parents of the minors (Under 18 Years) are not present in the UK, then the Guardian of the minor need to provide the original Authority Letter/ Custody Papers/ Court Orders dually attested by the Pakistan Foreign Office or from the Pakistani mission of their residence.
Note: Father holding Single Nationality Foreign Passport
If the father of a minor holds a passport from a single‑nationality country (e.g., Spain, Portugal) and the name on his foreign passport differs from the name recorded on the child’s previous passport or NICOP, the child’s NICOP must first be updated to reflect the father’s new name. Additionally, the father must cancel his existing NICOP/CNIC and obtain a POC card in the name as it appears on his foreign passport.

Dual Nationals

Dual Nationals are required to bring their Original Dual Nationality Passport (British/ French/ Italian/ Belgian etc) along with all other required documents as mentioned above.

Child Endorsement on Machine Readable Passport (MRP)

MRP is issued in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. According to the ICAO standards child endorsement is not allowed on parent’s passport. Therefore, child endorsement will not be done on the parents’ MRP. Instead of this, children (even under 18 years) will be issued a separate MRP.
