Manchester
Today, our Consulate General in Manchester came alive with colour, pride, and the shared spirit of Pakistan, as we celebrated our beloved country’s 78th Independence Day! Over 500 guests from all walks of life joined us in this special gathering and what a memorable day it was! The event was opened and hosted by our Trade and Investment Attaché, Mr. Owais Hussain. We were honoured to welcome Mr. Afzal Khan MP, Ms. Yasmin Qureshi MP, several councillors, leading businessmen, and many friends of Pakistan. A highlight of the day was hearing from our new Consul General, Mr. Imtiaz Gondal, who received a warm and heartfelt welcome from the community. He proudly hoisted the flag as our national anthem echoed through Manchester’s clear skies – a truly moving moment for everyone present.
Our speakers reminded us why independence matters – not just for Pakistan but for the whole world – and celebrated recent national victories in Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos and Marka-e-Haq. Adding to the joy was a delightful children’s tableau on a patriotic song – a performance that brought smiles, applause, and even a few tears of pride. Guests explored vibrant displays of Pakistani handicrafts, enjoyed refreshing ethnic drinks, and admired a stunning gallery showcasing our historic landmarks and natural beauty. And of course, the day ended on a delicious note with a spread of scrumptious Pakistani refreshments. All the while congratulatory messages kept playing on a large LED arranged by the Consulate for the very purpose. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this celebration so special. Here’s to Pakistan – its people, its spirit, and its future.
